Gauge Pin Inspection
BenchMate /Sort is a special class of MetriLink that is designed specifically for use in Piece Part sorting applications.

This Gauge Pin application is a good example of software that makes taking repetitive measurements by have much easier and faster.

Customer Problem
Gauge pins come in large sets with the diameter of the steel pins at some fixed increment - such as every .001". Periodically the gauge pins have to be checked for wear. A laser measurement system is usually used for the measurement because of the accuracy that can be maintained.

Previously the operator would have to place the part in the laser gauge, wait for the reading to be made and then write down the value, and then check to see if that particular size is within specifications. The written report of the actual size is maintained for quality control.

The tedious task was slow and time consuming as well as prone to errors.

MetriLogic Solution
A version of BenchMate was created that communicates with the measurement system and automates the entire operation.

In fact, the automation is so complete that the operator only has to place each pin in the gauge. The software does all the rest. BenchMate reads the measurement , logs the value into a database and checks for tolerance variations. After all of the pins are measured it generates a printed report that displays all of the measurements and identifies all the worn out pins.

The database holds all of the values and an be archived for future reference of exported to a spread sheet for closer analysis.
